"The Relational Interviewing workshop offers a paradise for any couple therapist - especially those with a narrative therapy soul. Powerful! Brilliant! Bravo Stephen!"

- January 2021 Participant, Hong Kong, China

Stephen first created the practice of narrative therapy informed Relational Interviewing to offer an alternative, non-essentialist, non-individualist, street sense/common sense relational response to conflicted relationships being brought to couple therapy.

Philosopher Todd May has been instrumental in teaching Stephen new theoretical ideas not only to explain the NIRI practice but are dramatically changing narrative therapy itself. . At points throughout the workshop he guides participants through the many creative complexities and theoretical understandings of Relational Interviewing.

The most recent practice developments of Relational Interviewing are shown through video demonstrations of Stephen's work with conflicted couple relationships in Canada, Noway, and the USA.

Participants improve upon their couple therapy practice through:

  1. Understanding all aspects of this new theoretical framework underlying a narrative therapy informed practice of Relational Interviewing;

  2. Understanding all the reasons why Stephen and VSNT faculty have moved away from traditional narrative couple therapy work;

  3. Experiencing each specific relational interviewing practice discussed and demonstrated through recent couple therapy videos working with conflicted couple relationships;

  4. Witnessing dramatic readings from conflicted couple's who retrieved the relationships relational values through relational letter written from the relationships perspective.
